Privacy

Short, because there’s little to tell.

What is collected

When you subscribe: your email address, an optional first name, and the signup source (this website or an event QR code).

Why

To send you the weekly newsletter and occasional related updates from Dominique Wu. Subscription uses double opt-in — you confirm by email before you are added.

What is never done

Your information is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for their marketing. No tracking beyond the newsletter platform’s standard delivery and open/click analytics.

Where it lives

Subscriber data is stored with Kit (kit.com), the newsletter service provider, under their security and privacy terms.

The like button

Blog posts carry a like button. Pressing it stores no account, no name, and no email — only a one-way cryptographic hash derived from your network address, kept solely so one browser can’t inflate a count, and never linkable back to you or shown to anyone. No cookies are set and no third-party service is involved.

How visits are counted

This website counts its own visits. There is no Google Analytics and no third-party analytics script of any kind — the site is built to load nothing from anyone else’s domain, and the build refuses to publish if that ever stops being true.

When you open a page, the site records: which page, roughly how long the page was actually in front of you, how far down you scrolled, any link you followed, the website that sent you (its name only, never the full address you came from), whether you are on a phone or a computer, and the country, region and city that Cloudflare reads from your network route, together with that city’s approximate coordinates rounded to about 11 km — the same fact as the city name, in a form a map can draw a dot with, and no more precise than the name beside it.

No cookie is set and nothing is stored in your browser. To count people rather than page-opens, the site keeps a one-way cryptographic hash of your network address and browser — mixed with today’s date. That last part is deliberate: tomorrow the same visit hashes to a completely different, unlinkable value. The result can say how many people read something today, and is unable to say whether any of them ever came back. Your network address itself is never written down.

These numbers are visible only to Dominique. They are never sold, shared, or used to build a profile of anyone, and there is nothing in them that could be.
